Founding members unanimously approved our bylaws, officially organizing the Route 20 Chess Club as a society for the promotion of chess in northwest Illinois and southwest Wisconsin. Keith Ammann was elected president, Jim Strong was elected secretary, and William Koester was elected treasurer. Our next regular meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, and we will meet for open play every Tuesday.
Next week, Aug. 11, we will meet at the Freeport Public Library, since Highland will be holding student orientation. We will return to Highland on Aug. 18.
About Us
The Route 20 Chess Club, serving northwest Illinois and southwest Wisconsin, welcomes players of all ages and levels. We meet in room H208 at Highland Community College each Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM, unless otherwise notified.
